Hear2Read Indic Text To Speech 3.1.20

This 3rd Generation Hear2Read Text-To-Speech (TTS) service engine enhances the previous release by integrating Indic voices seamlessly without the need for separate applications. Users can easily add one or more Indic Voices within the application using the "Add Voice" button.

This is an offline text-to-speech solution, eliminating the necessity for an internet connection once the specific language voice has been installed. The current language support includes:

• Assamese voice for Assamese text to speech (TTS)
• Gujarati voice for Gujarati text to speech (TTS)
• Hindi voice for Hindi text to speech (TTS)
• Kannada voice for Kannada text to speech (TTS)
• Malayalam voice for Malayalam text to speech (TTS)
• Odia voice for Odia text to speech (TTS)
• Punjabi voice for Punjabi text to speech (TTS)
• Sanskrit voice for Sanskrit text to speech (TTS)
• Telugu voice for Telugu text to speech (TTS)

Once the application and voices are installed, users need to set Hear2Read as the "Preferred engine" under Text-to-speech output settings.

The application caters to users with Visual Impairment (VI) for Talkback functionality (located under Accessibility in Settings), as well as users without visual impairments who prefer auditory reading.

Talkback utilizes the language selected as the preferred engine under "Text-to-speech output" settings. Users can switch it to their desired language for use with TTS software.

Hear2Read App features a demo screen for each supported language. The demo text provided is longer than the example sentence played in settings and allows users to paste up to 1000 bytes of custom text to be read aloud. However, the demo screen is not intended as a full-fledged screen reading application.

Hear2Read TTS Engine functions as a background service, akin to Google TTS engine, converting text to speech seamlessly. Any application like Talkback or @Voice Aloud can leverage it to convert Indic text to speech, facilitating "Reading by Listening". No data is saved, and all audio output is directed back to the originating application.

Hear2Read leverages Festvox, Festival, and Flite Open Source software developed by Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), with contributions from collaborators such as the Hear2Read team and the University of Edinburgh (UK).

Currently, Google Android TTS lacks support for Assamese, Odia, and Sanskrit. Efforts are underway to provide support for additional Indic languages not covered by Google.

The application necessitates devices with a minimum of 1 GB RAM, a Quad-core CPU, and Android 7.1.1 or newer versions.
